Barcelona is vibrant, captivating, and bright. It’s a city on the coast of Spain with a variety of attractions to visit, beautiful landscape, numerous cathedrals, and incredible food. Everywhere you turn you are met with the art of influential figuresĀ such asĀ Antoni Gaudi who have left their fingerprint on Barcelona’s architecture and culture. I can sit here and try to describe Barcelona, but it would be impossible for me to even capture this unique city through words. I hope that these pictures from my trip in April will do someĀ justice.
ā¢ MONTJUĆÆC Castle ā¢
The MontjuĆÆc Castle was built in 1640 and served as a military fortress. The castle is built with brick and provides a stunning view of the ocean as well as the city of Barcelona since it is atop MontjuĆÆc Hill. In order toĀ get to the castle, Ā youĀ have to ride a gondola lift. In the castle, I felt as if I was in the setting of a Shakespeare play.

ā¢ La SagradaĀ Familia ā¢
La Sagrada Familia is a world of its own. I am not kidding when I say that it will leave you breathless. The exterior of this cathedral is so intricate that I could not even capture its entirety through a picture. The construction of LaĀ Sagrada Familia commenced in 1982 under the design of Antoni Gaudi, and its construction is ongoing! The expected completion of the cathedral is estimated to be around 2026 to 2028. Inside the cathedral are beautiful archways, columns, and stained glass windows. La Sagrada Familia is one of those structures in the world that is meant to be soaked in through the eyes, not the lens. Of all of the cathedrals I’ve been to, La Sagrada Familia is by far my favorite.
ā¢ Tibidabo amusement park ā¢
The best view that we got of Barcelona was atop the Tibidabo mountain, which is also the location of an amusement park and the Sagrat Cor Church. To get to the top of the mountain, we had to ride cable car. This isĀ also a fun family spot if you have kids.

My family stayed in Barcelona for three days, which is not enough time to explore everything that the city offers. My favorite part of this city was the rich architecture and the exquisite seafood. Along with sight seeing and eating, there are plentyĀ of places for shopping here in Barcelona. One of the things that I did not get to do was actually go down to the beach; if I come back, I will definitely put this at the top of my itinerary.
